Netflix Plugs Hole In Streaming Video Workaround Hack

Some Netflix subscribers had been using a download time workaround to be able to watch more movies than their account allows.

Netflix stores minutes on the user’s own PC, in cookies and browser cache files. Users discovered they could pause a movie a few minutes into playback, then wait until it was completely downloaded, unplug their network and watch the film off line. When done, you just clear your cache and cookie files before plugging back in, This would keep Netflix from knowing you have watched more than the first few minutes of the film.

Last week made some changes to correct the hole in the process. This will give hackers just one more challenge to conquer this week.
