List of the best Portrait Lenses For Nikon DSLR Cameras that will get you beautiful head shots.
This list of great Nikon mount Portrait Lenses are reviewed and recommended by the Angry Photographer in this video. But, these picks are not just his favorite lenses but have been chosen by top pros for many years and are well proven in the studio.
The Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G is a current production lens that can be found easily and has auto focus on most Nikon bodies. This is the only plastic body lens in the bunch but is the sharpest 85mm Nikon currently makes. You can’t beat this lens on a full frame body as the price has gone down quit a bit since first introduced by Nikon.
In the video Ken makes it clear the his top choice of all the Portrait Lenses for Nikon full frame is the Nikon 105mm f/2 DC. The Nikon 105 DC is among the sharpest lenses ever made, and it’s built like a tank out of metal in Japan, not out of plastic in China or Taiwan.
The Nikon 300mm f/2.8 ED-IF AI-S is a great lens at a distance but it’s huge size may be too unwieldy for most. With a weight of 2,450g it will rip the mount off your camera if only hold on by the body and not by the lens. Don’t make that mistake as I have seen it happen and watch someone cry over it.
I personally would be happy with any of these lenses but I only own the Nikon 105mm f/2 DC and the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G. Those two lenses make me very happy and do not want to part with either one. The lens you choose comes down to your shooting style. Make your choice well as these are not the cheapest lenses on the market. Happy shopping and good luck if you are bidding on EBay.
