New Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC G2 vs Old vs Nikon f/2.8E FL ED VR

2017 Tamron 70-200mm G2 vs Old vs Nikon 70-200mm vr
Video side by side comparison review of the latest version of the 2017 Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC G2 versus the older Tamron versus the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR.

Breakdown between the top selling 70-200mm wedding lenses for Nikon bodies.

The actual weights of the three lenses are as follows:

New Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC G2 – 3 lbs 5.2oz.
Older Tamron SP 70-200MM F/2.8 DI VC – 3 lbs 4.8oz.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR – 3 lbs 4.2oz.

The new Tamron brings much faster autofocus speed than the older lens and 5 whole stops of image stabilization depending on which of the three VC modes you decide to use at the time.

That lower price and the stabilization is the big selling point of the new G2 fast zoom lens. You can select between VC Mode 1, VC Mode 2, and VC Mode 3. Mode 1 “strikes a balance” between viewfinder and lens stabilization; Mode 2 is just for panning; and, Mode 3 brings the best stabilization by prioritizing the captured image and ignoring viewfinder stabilization control.
