Do you want a fast way to turn on or off some of your most used functions? Well the “Widget Power Control” may help you greatly when it comes to saving battery life. To add it to your home screen just follow these steps. Keep the home button pressed and select “Widget Power Control” from the menu. This small widget allows you to quickly turn off connectivity options and change brightness.

The “Widget Power Control” gives you fast access the the following controllers and can save you up to 5 menu steps to make a setting change. Your will have quick access to WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sync, and Back-lighting.

* Go to Android Market.
* Search for Ringdroid then install it.
* Open the program.
* This will list audio files > select the file you want to crop
* Move sliders to beginning and end of portion of file you want cropped.
* Set the file as a ringtone, notification, music or alarm.

Just press and hold the bookmark until a menu pops up. Just select delete from the menu and your bookmark is now gone.

A application, which is not a widget, requires you to click on the application’s icon to open and run it. You then close it when finished.

OK. Now that we have that straitened out, here is how to add and remove a Motorola DROID widget.

Add/remove widgets
To add:

* Press the Home button
* Select Menu > Add > Widget

To remove: Select and hold then widget, drag it to the trash can that appears where the application
window was.

If you want to try out a cheap / inexpensive case cover for your Motorola Droid its hard to beat some of the phone cases offered by HandHeldItems.

The mobile phone cases for the DROID come in a hard plastic shell that has been painted on the inside (The case with the flower pattern) so the paint doesn’t chip away. Or a rubberized finish that has more of a grippy feel to it (The red case in the video). The rubberized case is not really rubber but more a rubberized paint. It gives you a much better hold on your DROID. It enabled me to feel more confident when handling the phone. The added texture was especially helpful on cold mornings when texting.

The only downside I have noticed is, like with any cover, it can make it a bit harder to type on the upper row on the keypad. The cases just snap right on the phone with a click. They stay on well for a snap-on case. I did have a top pop off one time when it got caught on the corner of my pants pocket. I have never had the DROID back cover come off.

If you haven’t already, take your DROID off auto brightness. The DROID is not the best at judging the proper screen brightness for your current surroundings. To get the brightness just right for your follow these steps.

Click Menu – It’s the button with the 4 lines at the base of the phone.
Then Settings-Sound and Display-Settings-Brightness- uncheck the auto box and the manual brightness will pop up. Just set it to your preferred brightness and it will stay fixed.

DROID short cuts can be added two ways to your Droid home screen.

The first method is by going to “Menu”, then “Add”, and finally “Shortcuts”.

Or you can open the Applications tab, now touch and hold for the short cut you want, it will then be added to your Droid home screen.
