Philips DVP3982/37 Review Region Free Code For HDMI Divx DVD Player

Review and region code hacks for the Philips new progressive scan DVD Player w/ 720/1080i/1080p Upconversion – DVP3982/37.

Our daughter bought this player a couple of weeks ago in Wal-Mart on the cheap and I have to admit that this is one heck of a player!! So far it has played everything that she has thrown at it and it does it very well. She has a few DivX, MPG, VCD, MP3, XviD and even some DVD-R’s and they all play beautifully. If your looking for a quality player at a very reasonable price, then I highly recommend the Phillips DVP3982.

It’s your dream player with flawless, true-to-life picture quality and the ability to play virtually any disc! This Philips DVD player delivers your movies and music entertainment experience.

DivX Ultra Home Theater Certified
DivX is video compression software, which enables high quality video to be compressed into very small files then downloaded onto CD-R or CD-RW and played back with very little loss of quality.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
The DVP-3982 features an HDMI output, capable of upconverting video signals to 720p/1080i and 1080p. This technology enables the DVP-3982 to carry high-definition audio and video information through a single cable and achieving the highest quality picture and clearest sound available.

Progressive Scan
The DVP-3982 is a progressive scan DVD player, capable of scanning an entire video frame at once; scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced. The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping), and details so sharp they seem as if they’re etched onto the screen.

Multi-Format Player
Don’t worry about limited playback capabilities; it’s compatible with DVD Audio/Video, DVD+R/W, CD, CD-R/W, SVCD, VCD, DivX Ultra, MP3, WMA, JPEG, HD-JPEG, and TIFF formats.

Windows Media Audio (WMA) Compatibility
This player is compatible with WMA files that are encoded by using the Windows Media Player version 9 or Windows Media Player for Windows XP. Files are recognized by their file extension ‘WMA’.

* DivX Ultra Home Theater certified

  1. Hello im new to Divx does it have the capabilty of downloading videos directl for play or do they need to be burned to a disc first?

Klink: you must burn the file to disc.

  2. Can you Flash the ROM
for the newer DivX (AVI) CODECs ?

Magnasonic used to supply the codes /software to burn to disc so one could flash upgrade their DVD players until they were bought our…

I was kind of hoping PHILIPS
did or does as well for their DVP3982 ???

as CODES evolve and more and more manufacturers of DVD players are
makign theirs also able to play
DVD DivX – it just doesn’t make sense that
the hardware co.,s do not want us to Flash upgrade their machines to stay up-to-date, otherwise I’ll just be using my laptop or netbook to watch films and stop buying their hardware that goes out of date so fast, all-together.

PS; tnx for the Region-free thingee 🙂
